Each 'Choose-day' we will investigate the process by
which we can reassess our activity and interaction with the world of plurality
and become more congruent within our personality.
Today,
make practical use of your time here; if you have not already started a 'spiritual
journal', a notebook of useful tips and personal goals, do it now. For-sure
you have a little exercise book lying around waiting for your Love to be poured
into it!
To
do or not to do. This is choice.
Why
chose 'to do'? You have been reading here for some time now. There is something
which draws you to this reading. Continual reading of any type of text will
result in changes within oneself… however subtle. Investing such time in
reading means a genuine interest - desire, even - to bring something of what is
read into one's own life. Vedanta is the original, tried and tested, 'self-help'
program! There comes a point where one must become serious about application of
the principles and values expounded. This can be done 'ad hoc', or it can be
done systematically. The daily review, writing it down, aids objectivity and
self-assessment. It also, when looked through at the end of a year, say,
demonstrates clearly what improvements have been achieved.
The
journal can be used for different aspects at different times. Setting the goal
of memorising key Sanskrit terms, for example, or japa sadhana goals, or
behaviour/personality goals … it is said that to change in this manner, we need
to make determined and aware effort for 21 days, at which point effort begins
to become habit.
For
habit not to become rote, we need to monitor, so the journal now becomes our
visible conscience.
What
are you waiting for. Get it going. Or not. The choice is yours.
